we are the world.

There’s no better thing than when people come together. Just look at this line up. Danggg.

Something cheesy about this at the same time, but let’s rather not go there.

sonia rykiel pour h&m.

H&M has collaborated with designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo and now – Sonia Rykiel.

Not sure if I will wear the clothes, but the colors of these photos caught my eye.

The collection includes dresses, scarves, leggings for children, blazers, skirts, dresses, accessories and even a jumpsuit. As for these Jimmy Choo heels… *gasp*

The “Sonia Rykiel pour H&M” bag, part of the proceeds from which will go directly to UNICEF’s “All for Children” project. Yay! Love.

kate and keith.

The couple shares a lovely little apartment with their little one and it sure does have a whole lot of character – in New York. Okay, let’s love… seeing that we love The Selby so much.

amanda wachob.

Amanda has been tattooing since 1998 and she has quite a unique style – some look like paintings, some like paint smudges and others random doodles. I love the random doodles, which is why my tattoos tend to look like prison tattoos. Eek.

If you’d like to have Amanda’s artwork on your body, you might have to make an appointment 3 to 4 months in advance. I’d say it’s worth it.

good ideas salon.

PSFK runs Good Ideas Salons to bring together forward-thinkers to share ideas that make things better, whether it’s better work, better play, or a better world. Another reason why I belong in New York.

Are You Indispensable?

On the morning of February 4, PSFK will host a Good Ideas Salon at Soho House with special guest Seth Godin. Good Ideas Salons are designed to bring likeminds together to share ideas and positivity around certain subjects.

For this intimate event, Seth will present ideas from his latest book Linchpin, and will openly discuss with the audience their experiences as linchpins at work. PSFK will also orchestrate some (opt-in) match making where attendees will have the opportunity to meet peers who can share knowledge with them and in turn become indispensable at work.

Who Should Attend?

Linchpins invent, lead (regardless of title), connect others, make things happen, and create order out of chaos. They figure out what to do when there’s no rule book. They make their customers and peers happy. They love their work, pour their best selves into it, and turn it into a kind of art.

Inspiration to make things better.

Seeing that I could not attend – sadface – I had to follow it on Twitter and here are a few quotes:

“It’s not art if it doesn’t change people!” – Seth Godin
“They should dock your pay for going to meetings.” – Seth Godin
“Teach kids to solve interesting problems and lead. Don’t just teach them to become good note takers.” – Seth Godin
Seth Godin’s signature says: “Go, make something happen!”

daria werbowy.

If I had to be a model scout, I would take one look at Daria and say “Girrrl, watch out”.

She’s got it. Yes, that “it” they always talk about.

finger paintings.

People who know me, will know that I often mention a guy called Bryan. Most of them probably do not realize that Bryan is on the other side of the world and that we haven’t even met, but anyway – look at these finger paintings. Yup, I said finger paintings.

i'm here.

Ordinary is no place to be.

“I’m Here” is a new 30-minute film by Spike Jonze (collaborating with Absolut).

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Spike, he directed movies like Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and my new favorite – Where The Wild Things Are (writer and director). He also worked with Björk, REM, Beastie Boys and even Jackass. Err. I like him.

It sure is a colorful world that we live in.

You think things are going one way and within a split second everything changes. I woke up this morning only to find out that one of my childhood friends, one of my very first friends – Anthony, passed away on Saturday, 5 December. I only heard about it this morning, Monday morning at 8am.

It hit me all of a sudden and I couldn’t stop crying. We haven’t seen each other in years, but he was one of my favorite people for at least 11 years. The little boy down around the corner who I used to BMX with til late at night. I remember my mom coming around the corner, calling us saying that it’s getting late and we had to go home. Thinking back… riding my BMX with Anthony was honestly some of the happiest times of my entire life. I know, quite something to say, but it’s true. Not having a worry in the world and knowing that we both were having so much fun at the time.

As we got older we were introduced to a world where people judge. They judge you based on where you’re from, who your parents are, how much money you have and the list goes on.

No matter what, whenever I think of Anthony, I still think of him as this happy boy who had such a kind and loving heart. Even though we haven’t seen each other in a while, it really feels like a piece of my life went missing.

Today I just want to crawl into a ball and cry and it’s weird how these things happen. On Thursday I wanted to ask him how he’s doing. I didn’t.

I will always remember Anthony and that special color he added to my life.

Anthony Hill… 1 November 1981 – 5 December 2009
