block notes.

Suck UK is a product design company and if you are looking for something fun, new, ‘different’, quirky and oh-so-clever, that is where you want to be. Go on already, have a look.

Like any good friend, my Vera, knows that I love Post-it® notes, Tetris and bright colors. Add it all together and what do you get? Block Notes.

These type of things tend to make me extremely happy. Extremely.

Ben Ambrose, I love you for these. I really, really do.

celebrate vida.

South African coffee brand, Vida e Caffe, likes to involve the local community in many ways. From training friendly baristas to the lastest competition – design a sleeve and win a year’s worth of coffee. I am sure they will be getting quite a few entries – some prettier than others.

Prettier? Not quite a word that you will use to describe a sleeve for a coffee cup, unless your name is Lavanya Naidoo and you have entered this design.

Blown away by your design Lavanya!

paper letters.

How good-looking are these paper letters? Not to mention fun.

I think these are the new crossword puzzles.

elsa mora.

This is what you call detail. Especially when it comes to paper cuts. Nope, not the ones that sting and leave you undecided – not knowing if you should laugh or cry.

These are pretty paper cuts by Elsa Mora.

Delicate detail, I would say.

3d pixel art paper craft.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World Fan Art is a series of handmade 3D paper crafts that Ruth Afrita did for her school projects.

Does it make you want to grab any piece of paper and cut, cut, cut? That is what it does to me. Now can it please be tomorrow already? (I need paper.)

Do yourself a favor and have a look at Ruth’s portfolio cover too.

Here is a sneak peak.

Ruth, you are one creative little lady.

one for you.

Every time I see this business card, I cannot help but smile. How clever? You can have one, but you might as well share it with someone else.

I just love it when people think.

And what about Top Shelf?

Smile.

paper cuts.

Nope, not the type of paper cuts you are thinking of.

Paper cutouts? No. Scroll down.

Cannot help, but wonder – how do they make these?

paper dreams.

Who said you need fancy gadgets to keep yourself entertained? Like I said earlier, go back to pen and paper. Well, in this case paper and something to cut the paper with.

“Paper Dreams” is a Junior Degree Project, by Kenneth Onulak, that he worked on over his Spring semester at RISD.

“I wanted the animation to have a dream like quality exploring the reality and space in which the dream exists and felt that the cutout technique fit this idea. Color was another consideration that I built into the design of the animation to help enhance the dreamlike qualities of the film. From here the idea grew and as I did studies involving birds, umbrellas, water, trees, and other things I was able to refine my idea and break it down to find the core essentials of the film.”

The final film took 12 weeks to complete, has beautiful music by John Nolan, he thanked his Grandma, and I think I will watch it again – just because.

postcarden.

PostCarten is a postable, pop-up box with seeds. The football edition has a retro cover illustration by Ross Tereperk and it also comes with your own miniature football pitch that has upright goalposts and a flickable ball.

Just in time for the World Cup and maybe you can send it to someone who won’t be able to make it to South Africa to experience the 2010 gees (spirit).

message of the day.

You already saw the photo of the day, now it is time for the message of the day.
