oak.

The desk.
‘Framework for ideas.’

The wardrobe.
‘Reflects the character of its user.’

My favorite – the cookie drawer.
‘An aid for self-restraint.’

The goal: to explore archetypes and stereotypes in the world of furniture.

These are “… the result of an extracurricular, collaborative student workshop at Lund University School of Industrial Design, Sweden.”

Love these, even though my cookie drawer will look more like the wardrobe.

Yay Sweden!

writable.

Writable is a clever coffee table that allows you to communicate in a different way.

If you are like me, you have quite a few reminders on your phone, a blackboard in the kitchen, and like to make lists. You need the Writable, right?

Yes please, a coffee table and a desk, please.

You can thank designer, Tianyu Xiao, for this design.

P.S. Tianyu’s ‘Booksitter‘ design can be quite handy for book lovers or any bookshelf.

dressed-up.

Furniture by the ever-impressive KamKam.

You can hide your little secrets and save some space at the same time. Wonderful. All smiles.

If you believe in fairies… oh, the imagination.

split personality sofa.

This quirky, fun and very colorful design by Danish designer, Ditte Maigaard.

Great for people, like Narry, who wants their apartment to be a different color every week.

“A new piece of furniture is based on the differences in a relationship. He enjoys coffee, she enjoys tea. He reads biographies, she reads thrillers. He is gray, she is colorful. She wants change, he does not…

Split Personality is developed from from a view of two opposite personalities who – because of their differences – supplement each other and enables many different uses. The shape and the textile expression is developed in unity, and it is exactly in the meeting of textile and furniture that Split Personality comes into character.

The furniture is padded in lanes which could be used to create a customizable coloring on the back by allowing the lanes to be changed by the end user. The furniture is meant to be used in the middle of the room to allow both sides to be experienced and can thereby also function as a room divider.”

axum and lalibella.

Axum and Lalibella? These are stools of course – inspired by the Ethiopian immigrants who live near David Keller.

I like to call them candy chairs and yes, I would love to have a few. Hello David!

coney island by uhuru.

My blender and I discovered a Chocolate-Coffee-Banana Milkshake and at the same time I came across the Coney Island Line by Uhuru. It really is a great evening of some pretty amazing discoveries.

Wait, Coney Island Line? Yeah, that place with the rides. You know, you have seen it in the movies a few times and if you were lucky enough you might have even been there and screamed while on The Cyclone.

Uhuru has Coney Island furniture! The Cyclone Lounger has to be my favorite, but there are many pieces to choose from.

Boardwalk Console – The reclaimed wood surface of our console echoes the inlaid pattern of the original boardwalk, as seen from above. The play of scale however, from the miniature nail-heads to the thinly cut Ipe, changes the context of the original design and adds an element of surprise. The wood sits atop a blackened steel base. Can’t get enough!

Drop end table – The Parachute Jump, a historical landmark punctuating the panorama of Coney Island, influenced the design of this end table. Once part of the World’s Fair, the now defunct ride looms over the rest of the park. Uhuru captures its essence through mechanical connections on a steel base, crowned with a faceted Ipe top.

Others include: Wonder Coffee Table, Drum Lamp, Saison Mirror – clicky here!

lobster chair.

Maybe it is because it is almost 2am, and I want to sleep – but the Lobster Chair by Lund & Paarmann looks just too comfortable.

“The shell is laminated, bend wood with a walnut veneer at the back. Inside the shell we have used Pantera foam, as it is very durable and probably the least damaging foam regarding our environment. The swivel base is chrome-plated steel. The fabrics and the leather we are using for Lobster are of the very best quality.”

holly dyment.

After a night of almost no sleep, I cannot stop yawning and I feel slightly backwards.
Holly Dyment Design loves color. Narry loves color. Narry. Needs. Sleep.

mina perhonen x torafu architects.

Love this rocker by Mina Perhonen and Torafu Architects. Perfect for a lazy afternoon in the sun.

I would like two, please. The only thing better than rocking is rocking with someone else.

deckstool.

The Deckstool by Jason Podlaski is a fun (and quirky) way to add color to any room.

“Solidly crafted using broken skateboards harvested from skateshops and skateparks across the U.S.A. Finely finished edges frame beautifully scuffed graphics that tell the story of the decks’ previous lives.”

They are selling out fast.
