chromatic typewriter.

Oooh! A typewriter that paints. Replace keys with color pads. Woop! Not that I’ll be able to do anything with it, but it is worth a try. Would anyone like to order paintings just in time for the holidays? Send me an email – I’d love to try my best.

vibroy.

Clever ideas and new concepts. You like those, don’t you? Me too. Oh, I really do.

Introducing Vibroy, a portable vibration speaker by Xenics. You can stick it anywhere, paper, cardboard, plastic, wood – anywhere. It uses 2 AAA batteries or USB and it is compatible with most devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mp3, Mp4 and even GPS systems.

I will take 2 please!

ibasket.

If you want your product to sell (and make money), add an ‘i’ to it. Or so it seems. I do not own any of the i-products, but will not mind having an iBasket. Might have to add a ‘please’ to that sentence.

What makes it so special? You do not have to do anything, really. You fill the basket (like you always do), but once it is full, it will automatically start washing your laundry. It is Wi-Fi enabled, so you can monitor it remotely.

And, yes and – after the wash, it will dry your clothes too.

Now the funny part. When the clothes are dry, it will either email or text you to let you know. How funny is that?

You can thank designer, Guopeng Liang, for this clever (and rather entertaining) design.

ziiip.

I want 3 of these, and I will pay good money for it.

Every time I go to the gym, it takes a few minutes to untangle my (needless to say) hot pink earphones. Sometimes I wonder what other people think when they see me do that. Yeah, yeah, the girl with her pink earphones and little pink towel. Everything perfectly coordinated.

Another story for another day.

How awesomely, clever are these YI Sound earphones by Ji Woong?

Want it to be even more amazing? Look at the volume control.

Can I get a yes please?

Yes, I would love a pink one, please. Also dark purple and black.

‘preciate it.

iq alarm.

The IQ Alarm. Not sure if you want one, but I do.

I like to get up early in the morning, but during winter, the snooze button is everyone’s friend.

With the IQ Alarm, it is a little bit more difficult to hit the snooze button. You have to answer 1-3 questions first, and if you want to turn it off, you have to hold the button for 30 seconds.

No, this is not the part where you throw it against the wall.

I wonder how many of these will get smashed?

You can thank (or not) Oliver Sha, for this clever (annoying to some) concept and design.

‘Wake up smarter.’

flashkus.

Ever thought of a disposable, recyclable and fairly cheap flash drive?

It is made of cardboard. Cheap enough to tear it off, copy files, write on it and give it to a friend (or client).

Too clever, too clever. Even though it is made of cardboard (I would assume that it would be best to keep away from waaater).

You can thank Russian design team Lebedev for this design.

shoot n share.

Um, an average looking pocket camcorder. Right, uh… what makes it so special?

This!

Yeah okay, and it has a blue light. Special.

Does it do anything?
It is more than ‘just a camcorder’, it is a projector too.

Yay? Big yay!

The price is a bit, uh… not so average looking – but thank you 3M!

abcdarian.

Sandra Brügmann, I love you.

It is not something that we think of everyday, but there are still millions of people (I am referring to adults) who cannot read. I know a few and it is quite sad and sometimes impossible to understand that they only know how to write their own name.

Sandra has a great concept that might help with that. Yes, I know this will cost a bit, but still.

The abcDARIAN offers reading assistance. You move the device over the text while pressing the button – the current line is highlighted. An audio output provies to read and listen simultaneously.

Beginners level. Having trouble to write a word? The software offers assistance on the back of the device. You can look up unknown phonemes or letters.

Intermediate level. Turn the device around and get the correction of your written word – a tag cloud offers some alternatives. You select one and listen to it, then you correct yourself on the other side of the device.

Might be a good way to improve your language skills or even learn a different language.

Want one? I do.

self-sterilizing door handle.

A few months ago, I noticed this dry patch on my hand. I went to the pharmacy asking all sorts of questions and wanted to get a cream to make it all sexy again. According to the pharmacist, it looked like some sort of an allergy to ‘something you have touched’. Of course I asked him like what and one of the things he mentioned was a door handle in a public space (or anything really).

Since then I try not to open a door using my hand, well I do not exactly use my foot, I just do not want my hand to touch a door handle. It gets creative at times.

Then my dear darlings I noticed this very clever concept by Choi Bomi (Red Dot Design Concept winning entry).

It should be illegal for a door not to have this.

How many doors handles did you touch today? Ew.

document extractor.

Now what do we have here?

I like new gadgets that I would like to have/use, and the Document Extractor is one of those gadgets.

It is a computer monitor – not sure what you like to call it, but it is also a printer (above).

And a scanner. What? A screen, a printer and a scanner? Yup, all-in-one.

Another function that I love about the Document Extractor is that you do not have to print the entire screen. You can crop the section that you would like to print and voila! – saved some ink.

You can thank designer Byeong Min Choe for this one.

Gimme gimme gimme!
